Gospel according to Luke 6:20-26
Today, Jesus looks into our eyes and speaks a word that seems impossible: “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.” Jesus does not tell us that suffering is beautiful, nor does He ask us to hide our tears. He tells us something infinitely greater and more consoling: no tear lived with Him is ever a lost tear. When the heart suffers, when something is missing, when life wounds us, it is precisely there that God draws near. He takes us into His arms and holds us even more tightly. The Beatitudes are the promise of a God who never abandons His children: to our poverty He gives His Kingdom, to our hunger His fullness, to our tears His consolation, and to our hope a promise of joy. The happiness Jesus promises us does not mean having a life without problems, without suffering, or without tears. It means knowing that, within every trial, He remains beside us. And so today, we can entrust to Him even what hurts us most and say to Him: “Jesus, even in my tears, let me know Your immense consolation. When a tear runs down my face, let me feel Your hand gathering it. When my heart is tired, hold me close to Your heart. Do not allow me to seek elsewhere what only You can give me. Be my joy, my peace, and my consolation. I trust in You, I entrust myself to You, and I abandon myself completely to Your love.” Because being blessed does not mean never crying. Being blessed means discovering that even while we are crying, we are held in the arms of God. It means believing that no night is eternal and that, after every darkness, the Lord prepares a new dawn for us, and after every trial, a new hope. And in His time, a joy that no one will ever be able to take away from us. Therefore, even today, let us not lose trust.
